That's No Tuna!

Pretty much the best day I can remember in recent history is this day in Hawaii, and that includes the birth of my children. (I'm kidding, relax.)

The fabulous family we stayed with has a fisherman brother, Kommonau. (I probably spelled that wrong... whatever.) He took us out on his boat, where half of us got sick (not my half).

We were fishing for tuna for our Luau later that night.

See, I don't need a fishing pole when I fish.
Just some bait and a line.

Kommonau is holding my fresh catch.

My 5 pound tuna looks puny, but she was sucking in for the camera.

It tasted goooood.
Meanwhile our fisherman wanted to catch a 100-150 pound tuna,
but instead we caught this.... watch video.

And then he dropped us off at this black sand beach.
There is no road access so we had it to ourselves.

I'm so moving here.

Dear Hawaii

I love you!

Dear friends of my blog,
I won't bore you with all my pictures,
but I will indulge in some highlights.

We were greeted at the airport by our new dear friends, Lorie and Alma.
They made us plumeria leis and they smelled delicious.

We took a rainy ride on ATVs through the rain forest
(hence the rain).

Waipio Valley.

We hiked into Pololu Valley. Gorgeous.
Stay tuned... I will do one more post on the best day of the trip!

And so it begins.

Macy and a friend from school were playing today, when I was called into the playroom to help with something. About 1 second later Macy says,

"Um, mom, could you please leave the room?"
Suuuuure...I see I'm cramping your style.

That's when Macy looked at me like I was a flesh-eating alien.
I guess the kids aren't using "cramping your style" these days.

I'm officially un-cool.

I knew it was coming, I just thought I was cool enough to hang onto it until she was a sassy teen. I think it's because even "cool" isn't cool.
Oh,man.

Hmmmm Snow

I'm so glad my children love the snow...
Not to say that I don't...
Okay, I don't.

Polly mostly eats it.

Up until a few weeks ago, my ladies were happy playing in these. Notice Macy's pants are at least 4 inches too short and Polly's 6 inches. You get to know the snow on a more intimate level this way. It sticks to your legs and fills up your boots nicely. FYI.

Christmas, Final Chapter

A final Christmas post.
(it's been too long)
Merry Christmas.
My hair looks weird.
New skirts and new snow hats.

The best Christmas gifts are homemade.
Gifts made by your own mother.
But these were made by Auntie Holly.
